Stream issues fix on the way

We’ve seen quite a few comments about stream connection problems with the Public Radio Tuner. The development team is on the case, and working on a fix that will be released later this month. The fix will be aimed at enhancing how the Tuner handles network connection issues. When this release is pushed live, the Tuner will be more readily able to reconnect with streams when they are interrupted or buffering. Improving performance of the Public Radio Tuner is our highest development priority right now, and you won’t have to wait for the release of version 2.0, set for May. We’d like to thank everyone who has told us about the issue and for providing the details that allowed us to trace the problem back to the source. We’ll get this fix out as soon as possible.

It’s great in concept. Like eveyone has said, it’s not useful until its connection can stay up for more than 5 minutes. The next request is to be able to background the player ALA the apple player. The current track title feature seems glitche — it just lists the first track played when I launched any station.
Best,
Mark
Love the app, thanks for the great job.
wish my local station would oupt in.
Is there any update on the streaming issues? Each time I play KVOD there are streaming issues and the app crashes.
On another note, any chance any MT stations will be added soon?
Don’t mean to take up space, but have to say this service is SUPER. I can sit here in San Rafael, CA and listen to Joe and Terry Graedon on WUNC in Chapel Hill! Great!
(Especially since I am, at the moment having streaming problems with KQED here in San Francisco :>)
[...] news! We have submitted the connection performance update and it will show up in the iTunes App Store as soon as Apple approves it. Testing took a couple [...]
Scott, Willy, et al. You are right that the stream fixes have taken a little longer than expected. I talked with the team, and they say they are very close to finishing the update. Thanks for checking in!
So happy your working on the streaming issues. The concept is great and I’m looking forward to the improvements. Keep up the great work!
On March 11, you indicated that a fix for this issue would be released later that month. It’s now April 6th….just wondering what the status is and what the expected release date might be?
(And thanks so much for this — it and Pandora are my two most-used iTouch apps!)
Great app. I’ve notice that the stream gets dropped when transitioning between WiFi and cellular networks. Hope this feedback helps.
Josh,
Thanks to the Dev team! I had given up on PRT for the last couple weeks because of the streaming problems, but I gave it another try tonight and I’m going on 40 minutes of continuous streaming. Maybe it’s just luck, but I’d rather think you guys found some fixes.
Kyle, I am not sure about the State of Things, but I do know the Story is carried on a number of stations around the country (WBEZ, my local station, plays The Story at 3p Eastern). And later this spring, we are planning to roll out a program guide for the Tuner that will allow you to browse stations and see what’s playing – and select a stream based on the program you’re interested in hearing.
Henry and Pat, The Public Radio Tuner is an opt-in project. So it’s up to each local station to decide whether or not to participate in this project and add their stream to the list of stations. The good news is that we are continually adding stations – and we hope to add more stations in your area in the near future.
This is one of my favorite apps and probably THE fav once the connection issues get fixed. Seems to always cut off but still shows as “playing” when I try to listen to KCRW Music. Eagerly awaiting the fix!
This will be a great app when you fix the streaming. We also need to have KMUW as a choice
question: Why are no stations in SC part of this? Has the state refused to join in or what?
I have to listen to either Charlotte or Atlanta which are certainly better than nothing but do not cover the Greenville-Spartanburg upstate areas of SC.
Really curious as to why no local (to us) stations are available.

Thanks for all the hard work that must go into a program like this!
I get cxn issues also-launching goes right to stopped;repeated attempts to connect just go right to stopped. I’m in southern CT, BTW.
Is there any way I can help? Capture info and send it or something?
I’m very grateful for an app I’d wanted since
getting an iPhone!
Looking forward to the update!
Cheers,
Kathleen
I am crazy about N.P.R.!
I have problems with 91.5 wunc out of chapel hill nc which carries my favorite programs: “the state of things” and “the story” I have less problems with the charlotte station but they don’t run these programs. Are there any fixes on the way or are there other stations with these programs. I can’t seem to find any
